IELTS Prize Award 2023/24 | DETAILS
The prize award is to assist applicants from eligible countries who have taken IELTS test for work and study abroad. Seven lucky IELTS test takers in each of the countries below will be given a £5,000 prize to turn their academic dreams into reality.
The 2023 IELTS Prize is open to test takers living in Bangladesh, Canada, Colombia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa.
There are two types of the IELTS test: IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. The IELTS Academic test is for people applying for higher education or professional registration in an English-speaking environment. It reflects some of the features of academic language and assesses whether you are ready to begin studying or training.
The IELTS General Training test is for those who are going to English-speaking countries for secondary education, work experience or training programs. It is also a requirement for migration to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the UK. The test focuses on basic survival skills in broad social and workplace contexts. Listening and Speaking are the same for both tests, but the subject matter of the Reading and Writing sections differs depending on which test you take.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the IELTS Prize Award 2023/24, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be 18 years or above.
- Be a resident of the country you’re applying from.
- Have taken IELTS with the British Council between 1 April 2022 and 31 August 2023 and be able to produce a valid IELTS score in the application.
- Book an IELTS test.
- Have a minimum overall IELTS band score of 5.5 or above.
- Be applying to an educational institution, anywhere in the world, that requires IELTS as part of its admission process.
- Be able to provide the letter of acceptance from your university by October 2023.
- Begin undergraduate or postgraduate studies in the academic year from January 2023 to March 2024.
